CHINA TRAINS OVER 10,000 EBOLA MEDICAL STAFF FOR WEST AFRICA


Chinese National Health and Family Planning Commission (NHFPC), said on Friday that the 64 Ebola medical experts deployed to West Africa, have trained 10,202 local staff to treat Ebola patients.
It said in a report on Friday in Beijing, that China sent the 64 specialists to West Africa in Nov. 9, 2014.The commission said the experts have trained 5,093 doctors, nurses and community health workers for Sierra Leone, 1,823 for Liberia and 1,481 for the Republic of Guinea.It said 1,805 were trained for six other countries in the region including Senegal.
 It said the mission was China’s first overseas health training programme, allowing China to pass on knowledge and experience gained from dealing with Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS).
Since the Ebola outbreak in West Africa, China has delivered medical aid, and dispatched health personnel to help with treatment, case observation, lab tests and training. (Xinhua/NAN)
